“Excuse me can I talk to you for a minute?”
STOP THE PRESSES!!
The unthinkable has occurred… or will occur! Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins, the hit maker behind almost EVERY R&B/Pop hit in the past 20 years, has said that he plans to have Jessie J. and Ariana Grande do a cover of “The Boy Is Mine” (which he produced) originally recorded by Monica and Brandy back in 1998.
Celebrating 20 years in the music biz, Jenkins plans to release some reworks of his previous hits as well as new material as part of a special project next year. Along with the Jessie J./Ariana Grande cover, Jenkins already has Sam Smith signed on to cover Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s OK” which was released back in 1998 as well.
Damn… I remember secretly calling TRL and voting for “The Boy Is Mine” back when TRL was on air… and back when MTV actually played music. Le sigh. Let’s hope if they DO do a music video, it’ll have a rotating room… Mekhi Phifer… and those amazing Brandy hairstyles.
